OUR STORY
Life School began with a simple but powerful dream – to bring hope to the special children in Manipur. That dream materialized in June 2013, when Life School officially opened its doors. But our story began before that…

2005
Life Challenge India launched a Men’s Addiction Recovery Center in the town of Kakching. An old government building was renovated into Kakching Life Challenge, where hundreds of men from the area have been rehabilitated.

2006
Seeing the deep impact of addiction and HIV on families, especially children, Life Challenge started a small preschool to support those most vulnerable.

2008
The preschool expanded into a modest school up to Grade 5, housed in a bamboo structure with six classrooms on rented land.

2010
A local school, Kakching Northern English School, merged with Life Challenge to offer education from preschool through 10th grade.

2012
The dream of a permanent home for the school came closer to reality with the purchase of a 2-acre property in Kakching.

2013
Kakching Life School was dedicated and opened as a day school.

2014
During an outreach program in Bishnupur, the founders met a young HIV orphan who was being mistreated by her uncle due to the stigma surrounding her illness. That encounter stirred a deep and urgent stirring to do more. This led to the desire to to add hostel facilities to create a safe, residential learning environment where children could live, study, be protected, valued, and given a future.

2015
Residential dorms for boys and girls were built and registered with the Child Welfare Commission of Manipur, providing a safe and nurturing environment where children could not only learn, but live, play, and thrive.

2018
Kakching Life School celebrated its 5th anniversary of service to the community with special cultural programs attended by government officials, police leadership, and community partners.
2023
10 years of Impact.
A decade of hope for the children of Manipur.
