Moreh Mattresses

So where do you go to buy 120 mattresses in Kakching?

There is no local store that you can just walk into, to purchase them. So off we go to neighboring Myanmar (Burma)! Yes, on the International border of Manipur & Myanmar is the famous Burma Bazaar, where goods from all over South East Asia are sold.

Life School is only 65 kms from the border town of Moreh. The mattresses were purchased at the Burma Bazaar, loaded onto a lorry (truck) and transported back to Kakching.

And you need to cross the Customs Border Check-post. The lines are long as the border officials check all the vehicles and charge excise & custom duties for the goods.

Lots of appreciation to the Custom officials who accepted our request for TOTAL Duty Exemption for Life School.

Thanks to our Bethel friends who sponsored the mattresses!!

The staff and children at Life School gladly helped unload the mattresses. Now for a good night’s sleep!!
